Seagate Technology is an American data storage company that was incorporated in 1978 as Shugart Technology. The company commenced business in 1979 and has been headquartered in Fremont, California since 2010.

In the 1980s, Seagate was a large supplier in the microcomputer market. Currently, Seagate and Western Digital are at the top of HDD suppliers. Most of their growth has come from taking over other companies.
